IE Closing error

When closing IE 6.0 with SP1 I get an error as follows: The intruction at "0x017440dd" referenced memory at "0x01744dd". The memory could not be "read". Clickon OK to terminate the program.

This happens almost every time I open IE. What's worse is, I fear it's effecting other parts of my computer. When I open Windows Explorer I errors and the application has to restart. Now, I did re-load my machine back in April but this has just begun happening in the last couple of weeks now and it's annoying. Any help I can get to fix this, short of re-formatting and starting over, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, ad-blockers, toolbars & other add-ons, etc.
You may have to uninstall then reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.
