ie closes when clicking on links

when i click on a download link in IE 6.0 it closes all
my windows out and reopens it in a new window. I have it
set to open all windows in same window but even if i
didn't (even if i have it open in seperate windows) it
still closes out the parent window and anyother windows
then reopens it in a new window. Anyone know what to do
here? Thanks in advance,
