IE "Can't find server"

Hi
I have Windows XP and the IE keeps giving the message "Can't find server".
I have Verizon DSL. The Verizon techs say they can ping my computer address
and it looks like I am online. The IE will not go to any sites and will not
load anything except "can't find server". the MSN/hotmail is giving me fits,
too. (won't load). Help!!! I am having to get my e-mails at work. Please
send any help to (e-mail address removed) (temp e-mail for right now.)

Hi Mike,
The modem for the Verizon DSL is outside the computer and all light show
green and working properly according to Verizon. I cllick on IE and the MSN
and nothing loads except with IE "can't find server"

In IE "Tools" "Internet Options" "Connections Tab"... is obtain
automatically checked.

This assumes Verizon deals you these parameters
