IE broke after SpyBot ran

Marty

I cannot go to any sites in IE after running SpyBot on my
Win2k SP4 machine. Immediately goes to this page >The page
cannot be displayed Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer

I also cannot use FrontPage to go to my website. Error is
Cannot find a web server at 'my web' pleasae check to
make sure the the web server name is valid and your proxy
settings are set correctly. If you are sure that
everything is correct, the we server may be temporarily out
of service.

Also strange is if I open my computer or windows explorer i
can go to a website.

i cannot FTP to any site either . Error is > Windows
cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file
name correctly andd that you have permission to access the
folder. Details: The name or address could not be resloved.

I made no changes to proxy or dns settings. I can resolve
any host from a command prompt. Netscape works fine.

Help ???????

Hi Marty,
I suggest taking this to the Microsoft.public.win2000.application group.
You will get more help for IE in that group since you have already
confirmed your not having a networking issue since Netscape and ping are
working correctly.

Thank you,

I had the exact same problem. It was a winsock error
caused when a spyware replaced a system file with its own
version. Spybot then deleted same solution un install
TCPIP remove any registry entries relating to winsock.
restart re install tcpip
