IE Blank Window - Missing All Menus

I've got a friend who lost all his controls in IE, in
other words just a blank window appears when you click on
IE, no address bar, buttons, links, etc, just a blank
window. I've re-installed IE but still not having any luck
so I'm posting here for suggestions.

have you tried pressing F11 ?

in internet options you can set the default page, maybe it is "about:blank"
