I am able to dial up and get connected ok, but when I try to use IE or
Outlook it acts as if there is no connection. Any suggestions on what
settings got changed? (Windows XP)

Thanks!

Have you checked the "connection" tab under the menu "tools" then "Internet Options".
There you can set: Never Dial the default or always Dial the Default.

Well I would suggest if you did not change anything to call your ISP and get
support from them. Perhaps they can gho into Dial Up Networking in the
control panel and establish a new connection for you. Unfortanely I don't
know how to do this. Let me know if this helps.

Also, check and see if ou have "Work Offline" checked under the File menu.
In addition to IE and OL also check this in Outlook Express and Windows
Media Player. Having "Work Offline" checked in MS applications that are
deeply integrated into Windows can affect the online status of other MS
applications.
