why will Explorer not allow viewing of D drive (cd\DVD)???
I am unable to view my D: drive (CD\DVD Drive) from IE7 or via
Explorer. I can write files from MS Word etc to a CD disk, Nero and
other programs are okay,
but a Computor Mag disk always fails when it tries to load a html file
from the auto opening.
The windows alert box comes up and states D:\ ????? is not accessible
yet it will load a DVD or a music CD.
When you attempt to view with Explorer the cursor jumps back to the
last folder you were viewing. It refuses to acknowledge the D Drive.
But it does show
the label of the Cd\DVD disk.
As we are travelling for the next few months its not possible to try
and reload Windows as I dont have the disks with me. And I doubt they
would even load with the problem.
I have downloaded a freeware version of explorer, called explorerxp
and it reads the D: drive okay. But Windows Xp Pro explorer refuses to
see the drive.
Checking with Device manager claims the drive is working okay. I have
scanned for viruses etc, searched the net for answers,
which showed me others have had the problem but not the answer.
I have tried the fix suggested for a closly related problem in
article Miscosoft kb 314060 but it does not resolve the issue.
Any assistance would be appreciated to resolve the issue please. It
might just be a registery setting or something but its annoying.
