IE access to download

My veersion of Internet Explore, which came with WIndows
XP Professional, will not connect to the download page
for Windows updates. Malfunctions:
The "right click" function does not work,
Cannot "add to favorites"
Cannot delete typing in drop down boxes,must back space
to delete letters. Example, typing in this email,
the "delete" key doesnot work.

Go directly the Windows Update site
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Clear your cache. Delete all temporary internet files and cookies. Make
sure your system time and date is correct.
