I formatted my computer and accidently installed IE8 from windows update. I
would like to remove IE 8 and install IE7, how do I do this?

Depends on the service pack level.

So IE7 was there, and then was updated to IE8? Then IE8 should be
listed in Add/Remove programs. If you remove it you'll be left with
IE7.

IE 7 was there before I formatted. When I did the updates it installed IE 8.
I looked in Add/Remove and the only one that is there is IE 8

After uninstalling IE8 the IE7 will be automagically back.
Otherwise it would be difficult to download IE7 without a browser ;-)

Sheila, if you "formatted," then IE7 is no longer there. With a fresh
install of XP, you get IE6.

So if you remove IE8 through Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs, you
will be back to IE6.

I would download this installation file for IE7 and save it in a special
location with other important installation files:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3385-447C-8A30-081805B2F90B&displaylang=en

Note that you should *not* upgrade to IE7 (or IE8) until *after* you
upgrade to SP3.

Not in this case. It will remove the *upgrade* from IE7 to IE8. IE7
will be left.

You've already gotten answers to your "how to" question. I'll just add
the following comment: going from IE8 to IE7 reduces your security and
is a very bad thing to do. I strongly recommend against it.
