IE 7 browser won't open.

I have Yahoo DSL.
I installed IE 7 when it came out and use it as my default browser.
Yesterday, I tried to open my browser and error message came up.
ID could not display the webpage and should run a diagnostic connection.
Did. Message said windows has detected a problem with the winsock provider
catalog on hte computer. the catalog allows programes to commuunicat e with
thsi comouter.. suggests to reset the catalog to default config.
Did! Restarted computer as suggested - did not fix.
What is going on????
Everything ran well until yesterday.
I did run the new patches put out by MS! could they have contributed to this.
My computer at home has everything the same - except for the updates and
runs fine.
ANY CURES FOR MY PROBLEM?????????????????

I am no expert, but if I had this problem, I would go into Control
Panel/Add-Remove Programs and remove IE 7. You would then revert to IE6. It
might not be as new as IE7, but at least you would have a browser that opens.

If it a winsock corruption then try to repair the winsock manually or by
downloading this tool:
Manual repair Open a Run Command and type in:
netsh winsock reset click [OK] and Wait for it to finish then Restart your
computer.
Download this winsock fixer:
http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html
Run it and wait to finish then Reboot the machine.
Be sure your computer is free from malwares and Viruses, the corruption
sometimes can happen from an Updates or spywares.

Check out the user group for updates (I got there via the Onecare
ite) -- there are several people there with the same problem (which
suggests a problem with the update). When they removed the offending
update, IE worked again. There were several suggestions for fixing --
one was restore to an earlier date and one was to remove the bad update.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am stillavingproblems!
I deleted IE 7 it reverted to IE 6. Worked fine except I lost some abilities
in some programs. Lost ability to update in Yahoo anti virus and my other
anti-sspam programs. Lost ability to have maintain IE as my default browser.
When I would open link in Outlook it would go to my yahoo browser rather than
IE 6.

I re-installed IE 7 and everything worked again for one day. Then, tried to
open IE6 today same thing - unable to do so. I think it is because of the
updates that went with the installation of IE 7. I did not have the problem
until after I installed the updates?????
Is the a way that I might install IE 7 without the updates? I tried and it
wanted to install them - I didn't want them so I declined. So, I guess IE 7
didn't install?

I have IE 7 on my home computer and no problems - I have not updated it at
home.

You stated that there is a site "onecare" do you have the link to that site?
I can't seem to find it.

Thank you for your help

Again,

Boy, I really hate to keep bothering you!
But, another question. As I stated, I deleted IE 7 but there was another
program there IE 7 tool (of some sort) should that be deleted as well?
After I delelted IE 7, I tried to update IE 6 but the update had something
about IE 7 in the update, so I cancelled. Would that have re-installed IE 7?

AS YOU CAN SEE, I AM TOTALLY CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
