IE 7 and IE 8 issues when i do click on a link

S

Suatzo

I have a SONY VAIO LAPTOP still using WXP, I used the IE 7 but when I do a
click on a link that open another window or another tag the IE just stop and
get freeze and I have to close de window then the machine sends the error to
microsoft to upgrade de program or something like that I don´t remember, so I
get the IE 8 and the problem still hapens and do the same thing, the only
diference is that when I get open the browser again the IE8 restore the tags
open. I hope somebody have a solution for this. I´m still using IE8

PS: I allready reset all Internet Explorer settings, and it doesn´t work.
I have to use another browser to view the links and download all the things,
because as you know to download a file the IE opens a little window to do it.

Upgrading in hopes of fixing an existing problem is seldom a wise idea.

There is a very good chance that you are seeing the effects of a continuing
hijackware infection!

NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription had
expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription has
since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows
Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: Format & reinstall
Windows. A Repair Install will NOT help!

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the
MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected
machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.

2. [WinXP ONLY!! =>] Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan
(only!) in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and

Hello,

Try running IE8 with add-ons disabled.

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
Add-ons) to start IE8 without any add-ons. Try using the browser and see if
the same problem arises.

If the problem does not occur again, start IE8 normally, go to Tools (if the
menu bar does not appear, hit the Alt key on the keyboard) > Manage Add-ons.
Disable all the add-ons under 'Toolbars and Extensions'. Enable each add-on
one at each time and see if the problem occurs again. Once it occurs again
after enabling an add-on, you have nailed the culprit.

If you are not even able to start IE8 normally, go to Start > Control Panel
Internet Options > Programs, Manage add-ons and you can disable all the
add-ons manually there.

One of those sites is
http://www.whatthetech.com/
Down load Hijackthis.exe
Run it and post on their forums the text results of Hijackthis. They should
be able to detect the problem and give you some steps to remedy the
situation. They have helped me in the past.
As a side note one of the recommendations is to log into Win as a USER with
no privileges not as an Administrator or admin group member.
