IE 6 "takeover"

P

Phil

My IE 6 has been "taken over" by some application that
populates my home page slot each time IE opens, opens up
3 new sites, has its own task bar, has added some
Favorites, and generally refuses to go away. Also, it
seems to favor gambling and other nefarious sites. I've
tried deleting various aspects of it to no avail. I have
all the latest XP security updates, have updated my
Office suite, use Norton ativirus (can't find any with
latest definitions). The thing is called I-lookup or i-
lookup and it has its own web page.
Do I need to uninstall/reinstall IE 6 and start over? If
so, I also need some instructions to do that.
Thanks

i-Lookup is a spyware - causes all sorts of problems with Internet Explorer.

ILookup Spyware Uninstaller available at:
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/utils/ilookup_kill.exe

Also run Ad-Aware (best spyware remover). Download Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com and re-scan the system for any other spyware products in
the system. **First , be sure to use update the pattern file using WebUpdate
in Ad-Aware feature**

Hi user - get SpyBot S&D here: http://security.kolla.de/
SpyBot Support Forum here:
http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi

I recommend using both AdAware and SpyBot normally at least once a week.
After fixing things with SpyBot S&D, be sure to re-boot and rerun SpyBot
again and repeat this cycle until you get a clean "no red" scan. It
sometimes has to re-boot to remove some things before it can go ahead and
remove others.
