IE 6 on Windows XP

Will

hello:

i am having trouble with IE and OE on my XP home
machine. we use verizon DSL and the connection appears
to work fine, and the notification icon appears in the
taskbar. eveyrthing seems ok until i try to use the
connection for anything (browsing the web, updating,
using outlook or outlook express). it has been this way
about 2 weeks, and i am sure that it's not the connection
because it works fine on another machine that i have. i
have tried all of the following, to no avail:

spybot
ad aware
LSP fixer
cwshredder
Microsoft sasser removal tool
windows XP KB835732

any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks,
Will

You're probably in the wrong newsgroup.
A newsgroup which specializes in networking for your OS
may be more helpful.

FWIW I would start by using XP's Net Diagnostics tool
to document what is and is not working. E.g. Run...
(press Win-R and enter: ) winmsd and then press Alt-T,N.
Set on all the scanning options. Do the scan and then expand
all items which show (FAILED).

If your other computer is also running XP it would probably
be most informative to do the same test on it and compare
the reports.
