I can't get my IE6 to work on my laptop. My internet connectivity is working
fine. In fact, Firefox is working fine. I am able to browse the net but I
want IE to be my default browser. Can anyone point me to the right direction
as to why I am having problem with IE and not firefox.

Thanks.

What do you mean by "can't get my IE6 to work"? What happens?

I doubt I am infected but will run the procedure anyway. The reason I am
saying that is because I just installed XP from scratch on my laptop. I will
let you know if I find any. Thanks.

Hi,
This could be due to a legitimate program.

Run this test... startup in Safe Mode with Networking.
315222 - A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=315222
If you can use IE6 in Safe Mode, you should be looking for the third-party
program that isn't running in Safe Mode, but is causing the problem when it
is running.

[XP SP2] From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable add-ons to see if one of
them is the culprit. If not using XP SP2, go to Internet Options> Advanced>
uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions." Restart. That will tell you
if a browser extension is causing the problem. You will still have to find
the troublesome program, add-on, etc.

Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers,
security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at
any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure,
reinstall, or not reinstall, a program. Turn on the Windows Firewall (from
Control Panel or Security Center) before disabling a third-party firewall.

Longshot... the MS06-015 update for IE6 *might* be involved.

Hope this helps,
