Instead of clicking try using the Tab key to move from link to link.
Unfortunately the colors make it difficult to spot where the focus is
but you should be able at least to see the target link in the Status bar.
See first of all if you have any better luck from pressing Enter when
keyboard focus is on a link you are interested in. And if that doesn't
work try transcribing the link from the Status bar into the Address bar
and pressing Enter there. (You can if you like alternatively use View
Source to copy and paste links that way.)
On GMX I therefore cannot login.
This suggests the possibility that your problem may not be as general
as you were implying. There are a few tabbed locations which don't
show up in the Status bar. Checking with View Source shows that they
are controlled by JavaScript. So if you are only having trouble with such
links perhaps what you should do is repair/reinstall scripting support for
your OS. E.g. see posts by Frank Saunders which refer to
"scripting engine"
First though it may also help to try some of the troubleshooting steps
associated with login problems.
