IE 6 is slow with google toolbar

I have a WinXP box with IE 6.0, and ever since installing the google
toolbar, websites which include pop-ups load extremely slowly. Most often
IE is busy for upwards of 60 seconds or more before I hear the "a pop-up has
been blocked" click and the page loads. Taskman shows IE at 99% CPU during
this time.

Any ideas?
