IE 6 cannot find Google pages

IE 6 shows "cannot find page" when I give it a Google URL. I fixed it
once by deleting all temporary files in IE, but the problem
resurfaced. I have reset my privacy setting to make sure to enable
cookies. I turned off Start-Up Cop Pro. I turned off each part of
Norton Internet Security 2008 in turn. Problem continues. I installed
Google Toolbar and got a message that something had kept it from
installing completely, although I haven't figured out anything that
isn't working. The tool bar will open Google sites such as gmail, but
I still cannot get to the homoe page.
This is on an Intel dual core processor with 4G RAM running Win XP
with SP2.

This only happens with Google, which leads me to suspect a plot by
Microsoft or Yahoo. Anyone have other wisdom to offer?

1. Uninstall all Norton software via Add/Remove Programs.

2. Enable the Windows Firewall.

3. Run this removal tool:

4. Immediately install the 30-day free trial version of, e.g., NOD32* or
KAV7**

5. Manually update your new anti-virus application then run a full system
scan.

Do your problems persist now?

[Don't forget to subscribe to your new AV app before the free-trial period
runs out!]
