IE 6 INTERMITINTLY HANGS

I have touble browsing on my dell inspiron with windows
ME. With both ie 5.5 aand ie 6.0, the browser hangs
after several minutes and I have to cnt, alt delete. When
I use aol, I do not have this problem even though I know
aol uses ie as their browser. I prefer to use ie since I
get online faster when I simply click the ie icon( I have
high speed cable access). I do not like aol but my wife
does. Is there a known conflict between ie and aol.
