Okay just starting out by saying I was stupid enough to put AOL on my
computer. AOL 9.0 has this pop-up control feature that is prevent me from
opening any java aplets, hyperlinks (including this form - which I had to cut
and paste into my AOL browser to open).

I attempted to unistall AOL, reset all the Internet Options in IE 6.0 (still
have that stupid AOL icon in the upper right hand corner), downloaded Mozilla
Firefox (which in fact works proeprly), reinstalled IE 6.0 and nothing works.

Even if I click a hyperlink in a trusted source AOL just beeps and closes
the browser as it if were some "bad" pop-up or referer.

Anyone know how to get this stinking AOL software (their IE ver 6.0) off my
computer without having to reload the entire OS (Windows 2000 Pro).

It seems that all the whining AOL did about Microsoft has paid off for them
by destroying all Micorsoft products it touches...

The most overlooked advantage to owning a computer is that if they foul up
there's no law against wacking them around a little.

Thank you for that post regarding the Version number... it looks like AOL may
have corrpute one of the following .dll:

· Shdocvw.dll
· Msjava.dll
· Actxprxy.dll
· Oleaut32.dll
· Mshtml.dll
· Browseui.dll
· Shell32.dll

By "reregistering" them via the regsrv32 command on each (my guess was it
was the MSjava.dll) I can at least no post messages using IE 6.0. I suppose I
could have done the above one at a time rebooting after each to find out
which it actually was...but I digress....

Mozilla Firefox browser using Sun Java seems to be working just ducky
although writing new firewall rules (which the Firewall was installed after
AOL was) was necessary....

Thanks for all the help
