Can't access web using IE 6 over Comcast broadband

Recently installed Comcast broadband but IE 6 won't
access any URL unless AOL 9.0 is running. IE loads and
attempts to access the site but never succeeds.

I can ping addresses without a problem. I can run AOL
9.0 and access any URL without problem. When AOL is
running, I can launch IE 6 and it works fine.

I have refreshed IP addresses, set IE as default browser,
turned off or lowered security.
