Is the Protected Storage service enabled?

Thanks Carey, I'm in there now..have a question - do I really need any of
these settings? If I remove the checkmark in the "inherit from parent..."
box, will this inevitably make things right? (p.s. -I do not use outlook
(often)

Hi Sharon, method 1 & 2 are fine, but on #3 I got the message "RSABase.dll
not found" (specified module) Iam running IE6 with XP SP2 (all win updates
complete)

ok, well looks like maybe I've "stumped" the panel here too...would it then
be possible to totally uninstall IE6 and re-try my settings >? *(it's snowing
here, not much else to do today)

Just skip that step. The article is written for IE5 (not a problem for this
issue) and that file may have been absorbed into something else in XP or
IE6.

Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD drive.
Then go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
In the Command Prompt window type: SFC /SCANNOW
and hit enter.

it scanned (about 5 minutes) then back to the blinking curser, I rebooted,
tried my login's at websites that require info to logon, receive the
microsoft "save login info" box, click yes, and still nothing....(although I
notice since the scan, my pop-up bar is gone) is that relevant?

? All the above being checked, I seem to recall I changed my user "name" (not
account info or priveledges) and later changed it back to what it is now, but
I am the only user (other than guest - which is turned off - always was) but
one would think that this wouldn't affect autocomplete. *especially after all
these tests have been run...

Did you ever get autocomplete to work? I've got the same problem. I've seen
other entries where people are suggesting making changes to the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider. Have
you tried that?

BTW, I just tried the procedure outlined in ..

The AutoComplete feature does not work after you enable it in Internet
Explorer on a computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=885180

.... and it WORKED!! I have XP Pro SP1 and IE6. Autocomplete is working
again. Good luck.
