IE 6.0 and no connection notice

I recently installed SBCyahoo DSL and am having some problems that I think
may be related to Internet Explorer (IE 6.0.2800.1106). Although my
connection is good, I keep getting this message on IE:

Click Try Again to attempt to connect.

When I click Try Again, I get through. I've gone to File and made sure the
"Work Offline" is not checked and I've installed all the available updates.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I'm running
Windows 98SE.
