First thing is that I have an ULTRA ATA/133 card.

I had this configuration in the card:

Primary channel: 1HD master and one burner as slave
Secondary channel 1 HD and a DVD-ROM as slave

Now, I changed to

Primary channel: the two HD's, the larger, master, the other as slave.

Secondary channel: the two burners, one as master, the other as slave.

Now, windows XP doesn't start.

I, by mistake disconnected the two burners from the secondary channels, and
windows could boot, and everything was all right save the two burners not
detected, which seem to be giving problems.

I also have a DVD-ROM which is connected to the primary channel in the
motherboard.

I have also tried repairing Windows, but the installer halts, at some point.

Any help?

When you initially installed XP what drive was it installed to? Could be
when you switched things around the drive letters changed and XP won't boot
because all the references to the appropriated drives are not the same.

Jumpers! CD drives need to be reset also to master and slave. You had them
as slave and slave.

Could be. Problem is, how to fix that without erasing everything and
installing Windows again.

What puzzles me is that neither the installer disk works.

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, I have taken care of the jumpers. Perhaps a good idea is to check them
again. Thank you.
