I was rummaging through the registry and deleted a key by mistake - there
were three keys in there for
icwconn.exe and I deleted the lowermost one - could some kindhearted soul
tell me what it is ..and its' type and value etc ?

....why is there no damned Edit | undelete in there ?!!!!! (regedit.exe)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\

I've got two keys in there
Default and
NoStartPage
....this missing one goes here :)

regards, Richard

I want to go to bed & sleep instead of restoring a ghost of c:\ for just one
key !

First, those are not keys, they are Values and their values is called
Value Data.
I have only two Values there, the same as yours now (Default and
NoStartPage).

Hi RJK
I would have thought that you would have known better than pizzing about
inside registry - was manual or with a prog - not that it matters.
But, you don't say if you want help or just telling a story :)

Thanks Ayush

...I've just realised that I haven't deleted anything ! ..must be
too
tired.
I was searching for a text string ...something like default_
....something or other and I tapped [F3] to go to the next instance
of it, and convinced myself I'd deleted a key - ( I refer to
everything in there as key ! btw )

I ghosted my drive a few hours ago, installed IE7 and was having a
rummage in the registry to locate msn url's / for Start Page &
default page etc. ..thanx again :)

regards, Richard

I forgot, why don't you use System Restore or if you have a
registry
backup then restore that.

I checked two computers at the key you indicate and all both have just
the two String entries you show, both blank.
Is System Restore an option for you?

If you want a Registry Editor with an Undo function, this freeware will
do it:

http://www.vsft.com/products.htm

You want the Vilma Software Registry Explorer

Thanks Claymore,

I am grateful, twas me being daft, ..or perhaps dafter that usual, I tapped
[F3] to go to the next instance of a text string I was looking for and
convinced myself I'd deleted something. ( the next location had two
entries, and I'd been looking at three ), obviously time to switch it off.

Thanks again

regards, Richard
