Running: Windows XP Pro/ Internet Explorer 6. SP
Would you please tell me: how many keys are there in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\OpenWithList ?? and what are they??
By mistake I deleted one or both of the following two keys
Explorer.exe
or
Iexplore.ex

I'm not sure,, please tell me so I can create new key(s) for the one(s) I've deleted
Thank You for your help

Different systems may have different entries, but there are standard
associations that can be restored easily. See Doug's site, below, and
click on XP-FIXES. Look over the list, and you will see the items.

Always EXPORT registry keys prior to deleting.

The advice is to backup the registry BEFORE you start to
edit it or delete entries. Suggest you do so next time.

For now, put the Windows XP CD in the drive and click,
START/run and then type with out the quotes "sfc /scannow"
This will run system file check.
If that does not fix your problem, do a repair install but
read the directions first.

Yes, back up your reg first, but be aware that even if
you do, it is possible to damage your system so much by
deleting the wrong thing that you will have extreme
difficulty getting back on to get to your backup....I
learned the hard way. (Word of warning, if you have
McAfee antivirus and get an NT On Access scanner error,
it is NOT due to the presense of norton/symantec items on
your system. It is a BUG in McAfee!!!)
