ICS

I have a client who has ICS set up on two XP machines. One
is laptop which is used at home, on the road and at the
office. The two machines are connected via a crossover
cable. When the laptop owner plugs in at the office he has
to reboot the other PC (gateway) before ICS works. Is
there a way around this? Can a service be (re)started?

I have tried several repairs in the past, but I will try
to disable/enable the connection.
