ICS configuring fails with'A lan adapter already configued

Pete

I am trying to configure ICS and recieve the following
message .."A lan connector is already configured with the
IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing"
I have changed my cable modem/gateway to 192.168.0.2 with
a subnet mask of 255.255.255.5 from 192.168.0.1 with mask
of 255.255.255.0. All adapters on the local network are
configured for DHCP so they should receive config info
from the adapter that connects to the internet and is, I
believe, supposedly assigned 192.168.0.1 when the ICS
config is implimented. I take it that the ICS is seeing
some other adapter with the 192.168.0.1 address but I
can't see where, with the modem/gateway configed the way
it is now... Any ideas? Thanks.

I am not sure why you need ics if you have a router. just remember you may
need to disable router's DHCP.

ICS uses the 192.168.0.x IP range. If the connection that you're
trying to share uses the same IP range, it conflicts with ICS. You'll
have to change the Internet connection to a different range, like
192.168.1.x, to share it with ICS.

What type of "modem/gateway" device do you have -- what's its make and
model number? It might have a built-in Internet sharing capability,
in which case you don't need ICS at all.
