icons missing from start menu

Two icons have disappeared from the top of my all programs menu.
This has happened for no apparent reason.
One is the Set Program Access & Defaults and the other is
Windows Catalog.
I tried to download the set program access & defaults add-on
from microsoft downloads. However, it stated that would only
work with service pack 1.
I have windows xp media center edition. I've had this computer for two weeks.
Does anyone know how I can replace these icons in my start menu?

Try this, see if this helps you.

1. Right click on your Start menu and choose Explorer All Users
2. Find these icons in other users or All User's Start Menu.

If you are still not able to locate them then you can create shortcuts for
these programs:

1. Right click on Start menu choose Properties.
2. In Blank area of that Folder - right click - point to New - Shortcut
3. Type the following path for Setup Program Defaults or make a copy paste

%SystemRoot%\system32\control.exe appwiz.cpl,,3

4. Create one more shortcut and give the following path for Windows Catalog

%SystemRoot%\system32\wupdmgr.exe

Let us know, if this information is useful to you.
