hi,

The icons in the systems tray disappeared. The volume icon, printer icon and
more are gone.

The volume icon is not there but the sound still works. I go to Sounds and
Devices and the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" is checked. I uncheck and
recheck it and it the volume icon appears. But the next time I restart my
computer it is not there anymore.

When I try to print something, it would just appear in the printer que with
the status "printing" but nothing happens. I open the HP Printer Director and
it says the printer status is disconnected. I restart my computer and the
printer will print out what I wanted automaticly. The printer icon still does
not appear in the systems tray. Sometimes the printer works and sometimes it
doesnt. I tried turning the printer on and off, but that just freezes my
computer with the printer que becoming unresponsive.

I go to the taskbar customize and switch on aways show for the sound icon,
but still the icon does not show. I noticed the icon pictures next to all the
names in the show or dont show option have become folder icons.

Hi Steve,
Lets hope the easy solution works first.
Lets try this first. Right Click the Start button and choose properties.
Choose the taskbar tab at the top. Make sure there IS a check in the bottom
left Hide Inactive Icons. Choose the customize button at the Bottom Right and
verify your settings there. When you click on the item in the behavior
column you should get a drop down list. Your printer issue may be totally
separate. You may *simply* need to reinstall the drivers for the printer.
