icons missing in notification area

G'day all - anybody else copped this?
Used to be I had Norton Ghost 9.0 Agent icon in the taskbar notification
area after boot-up AND after I'd dialled up with the modem, I also had the
modem-dialup icon in the tna as well (handy to check amount/rate of data &
time left...)...well they've now disappeared. I've deleted & renewed the
dialup identities - doesn't help - still don't get modem notification in tna.
The Ghost icon's no problem - Ghost still works ok; but I'd like to have the
modem dialup icons back....

ANY IDEAS ANYONE?????

Notification area icons are missing at startup.

Try disabling the SSDP Discovery Service and the Universal Plug and Play
Device Host service.

You little ball-tearer Wes - thanx heaps for that; while I haven't put that
into practice yet, it seems like it'll work out ok. Thanx heaps for the quick
response man - top job. Cheers...poocikins.

Wes:

Strange. It seemed to work for a couple of days and then started again. My
only solution is to log out and log back in. I have always been password
protected and required it at login so that fix was moot for me.

It is more an annoyance than anything else. I like to know what's running
in the background without bothering Program Manager.

Thanks again.
