Notification Area

After a thorough clean of my XP I cannot see my printer Icon in the
notification area. I have gone to Taskbar & Start options,. got the
notification area 'customise' screen and the icon is in the 'past
items' . I have made this an 'always show' item and presses 'apply'
and 'OK'

I still cannot get the printer Icon in the notification area. Help?
