Kate Kate said:It just started happening on two different machines and I suspect its
some software I installed that's causing it. They are two totaly
differnt pcs with different everything other than XP.
Some times it lets me move the icons and most of the time they are
locked and I can't even cop anything to the desktop.
I was thinking it might be Logitech setpoint software as thats pretty
much all i realy think it could be as I am having other problems like
windows loosing focus and me unable to click on them and select them,
and anything on the desktop or even the task bar. A alt tab and
everything responds again.
The again it could be a trojan, virus, spyware. have scaned for
spyware and cleaned, only virus and, trojan's to do now.
If you have any ideas please let me know.
As of tyeping this I still can't move the icons on the desktop
Thanks.
You are correct it could be infection since these two machine connected to
the same network and may be sharing file if not physically by other mean like
a CD/DVD (moving using the same CD create on the infected machine).
Scan thoroughly for both Malware and viruses then let us know how many you
will catch and their names to shame them LOL.
Right click your Start Button, select properties.
On the Taskbar and start menu click on Start menu Tab then on Customize
button, then click on Advanced Tab.
Check this check box:
[ ] Enable Dragging and dropping
Click [OK] and out, does this help.
HTH.
let us know your findings.
