I am running Windows XP Pro, office XP Pro, some of the
icons appear black in "My Documents" and also under "All
Programs", help

Download and install Powertoys; it has the option of
repairing icons.

Kelly has a downloadable fix at line 4, left "repairs the icon view",
which might help.

You can also download TweakUI on the same page at line 246, and it has
an option to repair icons.
