Icon label

The labels of my icons on the desktop all have a colored
box behind them. Until recently, there was not a colored
box behind the words unless I had just clicked on it. For
some reason all of the icon labels have the colored box
behind them now. How can I change this? I am using
Windows XP.

Right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties. Go to the
Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Performance. On the
Visual Effects tab scroll down in the list and make sure that "Use drop
shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is checked.
