Icon/desktop background

Hi

I would like my icon names to just show up on my desktop
wallpaper rather than have the desktop background colour
show as a box around the test. Does any one know how to
change this setting?

Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. Select the Advanced tab,
and in the top section of the properties sheet ('Performance') click the
Settings button. Put a checkmark in 'Use drop shadows for icon labels on the
desktop'. Voila!
