Begging for Transparent Icon Text on Desktop

Guest

I'm using XP Home. For the life of me, I've forgotten how to set the
desktop so that the background behind the icon text is
transparent--allowing the desktop wallpaper to show through.

I went to Help and searched around for desktop, icon, transparent --
no luck. Can somebody please help me?

Click on the Start button
Select Control Panel
Then select Performance and Maintenance/Adjust Visual Effects/"Use drop shadows
for icon labels on the Desktop".
Classic - Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings
If this still doesn't do the trick, right-click the desktop, point to Arrange
Icons By and make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked;

Right click on your desktop and got to properties and then go to the
Appearance tab, then go to the advanced button on the bottom and then in the
drop box go to Icon and try changing the font and then see if that helps.

Thank you! It's all better now. I feel so dumb -- of course I should
have know to search Help for "drop shadows." People are probably
laughing at me because I used the word "transparent."
