I want to follow up my email, looking @ the sent file & seeing op.

I'm applying for jobs. I want to see emails for jobs as "unread".
I want to check to see if they have been opened by looking in "sent" items
and seeing if the envelope is open.
My email now are all sent as opened. I cannot follow up.
Phone calls to these company's are not taken. They tell me to look in my
sent file.

The emails in your sent items are a *COPY* of the one you sent - the fact
that they are shown as open on YOUR machine has nothing whatsoever to do
with whether the person you sent them to has read them.
Try putting a read-receipt on emails when you send them - look in help for
your particular cversion of Outlook. having said that, there is still no
guarantee that your recipient will a) read the emails and b) allow the
return receipt.

Eh? What exactly do you mean "they tell me to look in my sent file"?
