I need help with the desktop backgrounds

When I try to change the background on my desktop, it
doesn't work. I have followed all the instructions in the
Help, but still nothing. When I click on the desktop
properties, everything in that little section that has to
do with backgrounds is frozen, and can't be clicked on.
Does anybody know what the problem could be? Or could
possibly venture a guess as to what I should do? I'm
thinking it has something to do with some kind of security
options which are preventing me from putting in a new
background. Well, anyhow, if someone could please e-mail
me with suggestions I would greatly appreciate it, because
I have already tried everything possible within my limited
knowledge of computers :).

When you say "frozen" you mean grayed out, right? Are
you the only, or primary, user on the machine? If you're
not, the administrator may have limited your access to
changing settings. If you are unsure, go into the
Control Panel and click users. You'll want to see if you
are listed as an administrator or a limited account.
