Always uninstall a program you have no further intention of using. Reboot
after the program has been uninstalled. Then install AVG antivirus. Reboot
and update the program. Then run a complete scan of your computer so you
have a baseline to work from.

It doesn't matter, they don't conflict.

However, uninstalling Norton is not easy; it is the barnacle of software.

You will probably have to visit Symantec's site for their special
super-sekret Norton scraping tool.

Hi ... You can download the AVG but just don't load the program until you have completely remove Norton garbage , Though I would recommend not to use AVG either but rather go with probably the 2 best Anti-Virus programs out there , which are at the below links

http://www.kaspersky.com/

http://www.eset.com/

I doubt if many will disagree with either of these 2

I certainly won't disagree with the aforementioned choices, except to say I've been running AVG's free version with absolutely no problem since 2000. (If it ain't broke....)

Pool, good luck with getting rid of the behemoth known as Norton Anti-
Virus.

As far as installing AVG, I wouldn't. It has the absolute worst
"ProActive detection of "NEW" samples" according to the results of
this website:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2006_05.php

AVG also only has a standard "certification level reached" according
to the same website. This is what you should pay more attention to
than any of the percentages.

In fact, you would be uninstalling one "Standard" antivirus program in
Norton and installing another "Standard" one in AVG. If you are
looking for a very good "Advanced" one that is also free, try out
Avast Anti-Virus, you won't be sorry. Avast has much better and more
reliable updating than AVG also.

If you decide that you wish to try Avast, you can find it here:

Keep in mind tht AVAST at one time did interfear with system restore.
I don't know if it still does. Avast was aware of the problem but made
no effort to correct it. I don't know if this is still true or not. I
believe the same is true of AVG also. I have used AVG for about 2
years on my olde ME machine. I liked the interface of it a little
better that Avast.

Remove the anti-virus programs you no longer want to use.
