i lose my mouse offscreen...

Hello,

Thanks for any help in advance. Has anyone ever had a problem losing their
mouse pointer off screen?

It doesn't matter what resolution i have it on.

It is not due to my monitor being out of adjustment.

It happens while inside games.

I have updates all drivers for both my mouse and video card.

I am using a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical USB.

My video card is NVIDIA GeForce MX 440. Main driver: nv4_disp.dll last
updated on 10 Oct 2005

I run Windows XP Home 5.1 Build 2600.

If anyone has any idea why this is happening i would appreciate some help.

Thanks,

Blue

thank you Brian, but i have already tried this and it did not fix the
problem. i can set my screen resolution to small and actually adjust the
monitor to any screen size i want and the mouse still goes out into the
void. thanks anyway.

anyone else want to take a stab at this?

Have you adjusted the horizontal in far enough using the monitors controls so
that you actually see black on both sides when at the desktop? If you're using
a black background you won't see it, but when they are in far enough the mouse
will stop at the edge of the Windows desktop screen. You will see the pointer at
1 vert. and 1 horiz. You will see only the edge on the other 2 if you look
close enough or have a colored border on the pointer.

Hey Brian,

Yes i have adjusted the Horizontal right down to zero. i do see black bands
beside the windows desktop, and then darker black bans outside of that. i
still lose the pointer as soon as it goes off the desktop. i can move it
around in the void, in all four directions without it reappearing. i have
to move it a incongruous distance back to the left to get it back on the
desktop. i should point out, i only lose the pointer on the right hand side
and the bottom of the screen. it behaves normally on the left and top,
stopping at the edge of the desktop. also, i have now noticed that in some
games, the game screen extends beyond the edge of my monitor. i really
think this must be a driver problem, but i cannot find any support for that
anywhere.

Please help.

For now I only have this but I'll have a look around.

Some vid adapters/chips have dual monitor capabilities. Truly the second
monitor should not be able to be selected for use without another monitor
attached, yet I have seen where it was selectable. Take a peek in your vid
properties and see if a second monitor is used and disable it.

Check for any updates for the video card/chip and Monitor.
