mouse pointer freezes sporadically/consistently, by single left clicking or
tapping esc, the mouse pointer is freed up for use only to re-occur within
minutes.
New computer build:

Logitech® MX?510 Performance Optical Mouse
windows xp home
latest mouse driver downloaded from Logitech.com
Asus a8n-sli deluxe motherboard
amd athlon 64 x2 3800+
dual eVGA Geforce 7800GT video cards.

I just built this the other day and it seems very stable otherwise. I have
the latest drivers on all devices (including current motherboard BIOS).
Windows has all updates also.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Stuff to think about...

Disable some of the mouse features and slow it down a little. For instance
get rid of enhanced pointing if you never have a reason for it (I never do)
and set the setting/speed down a notch.

How's it connected? USB? If it's USB then try PS/2 slots. If it's PS/2 then
try USB... Is it USB 2.0? If so then make sure it's in a USB 2.0 slot. If
not then try it (backward compatible should be a given but that could be a
problem I suppose) in a USB 1.1 slot if you can.

Check the configuration for the mouseware (is that what they call it with
Logitech?) utility to see if there's a reason it's freezing. Is it trying to
load the magnification utility and you didn't install that portion?

Anyhow those would be a few ideas.
