I know I'm a moron, but I try my best... Help!

Be gentle, I'm new at all this!!!! I recently recorded a home movie on a
Samsung DV camera (VP-D351) and transferred it with no problems to WMM
(latest version). Once I'd edited it etc I saved it. I then burned this to a
DVD+R disc. However, the disc won't play in my standard Sony player connected
to my TV (it's a Sony DAV-S300 surround-sound system dating from about 2000).
Is this because my standard Sony only plays MPEG2 DVDs???? If so, please can
anyone tell me how I convert my WMM project file into MPEG2???? Or have I
just been really stupid and bought the wrong sort of DVD format disc? Or is
it something else entirely???? Thanx!

OK PapaJohn, thanx for that! I have Nero 6 Reloaded - haven't tried it yet
for video stuff. Will that convert my project to MPEG2?

If it is the full version which includes Nero Vision Express then yes it
will do the trick.
I have a full step-by-step tutorial on my website for using Nero to create a
DVD.

Ooops, sorry! Bad etiquette I know... (blush). Yes, did it! Thankyou for all
your help! Now I've just got to work out why the finished DVD is such rubbish
quality when it's great on the camera. Probably be back posting for help in a
bit... But you have to experiment to learn, eh?!?! Thanx again!

No need to blush :)
I was just checking in to see if you sorted it out and it sounds like you
did at least as far as getting Nero working for you. As far as the DVD being
"rubbish" it could simply be the video format you started with. If you
capture and save the video in Movie Maker as a DV-AVI the final quality on
the DVD will be much better than it would be using a WMV profile unless it
is Papajohn's custom high-def one.
