I installed an update yesterday and now xp wont run

Yesterday i ran an update through ex on my other computer. after the system rebooted it displays the message that my cd code is nolonger valid ad i cant do anything. Anyone have any sugestions on what i can do to get that computer back up?
 
Either:

Press F8 at startup and choose Last Known Good Configuration
or
Press F8 at startup, choose Safe Mode and use System Restore to return to a
point prior to your installation of the update.
