I have to close the program and open it again to send mails

I am a beginner with Windows mail and I am a little bit confused.

When I try to send a message, it goes to the outbox (no error message at
all) but it is not sent until I close windows mail and open it again. In the
option section I have selected send messages inmediatelly, but it doesn't
work.

Anyone has had this problem? any sugestion?
