I have a corrupt rules file. How do I fix it?

My rules file is corrupted. I have some created directly in the Rules tool.
Others I created by right clicking on an Email item. I cannot make changes
to any of them, ("change" is greyed out) and though they ran when created,
then do not run when mail arrives.

Try exporting the rules, starting Outlook once with the /cleanrules command
switch, and then importing the rules again.

Thank you for responding so quickly, Brian. That didn't work, however. Any
other suggestions?

Did the rules export with no errors? Did the /cleanrules switch cause
Outlook to show no rules? Did the rules import successfully? There is no
"rules file". If you're using an Exchange account, the rules on in your
Exchange mailbox. If you're using another type of account, the rules are in
your default PST.

Did the rules export with no errors?

Yes. I named the file rules.rwz and it completed the export without a
message of any kind.
Did the /cleanrules switch cause Outlook to show no rules?

Yes. When I opened Outlook and looked at the Rules, it was empty.
Did the rules import successfully?

Yes. Quickly and without messages of any kind.

I'm not using an Exchange account. The rules would be in my default pst,
but they are unusable. I guess I should try that cleanrules switch and try
setting up another rule and see if that works, huh?

That's the next step. With a clean rules area, try defining a new rule and
see if its properties are available.
