I guess my cd burner just died

I was burning an image and in the middle of the burn I got a message
saying that the burn was not successful.

The eject button works fine.

I put in a new blank CD but I get a message from Alcohol "no CD"

I have tried putting in a few more CDs and when I do a properties I
get "file system unknown

It shows 0 used and 0 free.

I tried restarting my computer twice. I shut it down the second time.

Any suggestions before I head out to the hardware store?

I am not too good with the registry.

I do have a question though.

Even if the drive was mistaken for a non write able device shouldn't
it still show the properties of a disk with data on it?
