Problem Description: Jarnel,

Thanks for the response.I did as you directed. Unchecked
the 3rd party brouser and initiated a shutdown and
restart. This did not help. The PC is a Toshiba Tecra
3100. The PID is 55277-OEM. I have been reading others
with the same problem on the microsoft chat page.

I look forward for further directions from you.

Thanks again,

Mike

Not only does IE go transparent but, like many others
(http://snipurl.com/63hb), Windows Update keeps identifying MS04-011/835732
as being needed.

First see this page where several Known Issues have been added, any of which
may apply to you: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=835732.

I suggest you deactivate Automatic Updating and then uninstall this hotfix:

With your anti-virus disabled and all other programs closed, go to
Add/Remove Programs and uninstall 'Windows XP Hotfix - KB835732'. Reboot.

Any better?

[It may be that MS04-011 isn't causing the problem. Go to

IE Tools>Internet Options>General>Accessibility

Is anything checked here? Did you check it?]

Now I suggest you try installing the update manually. Go to this page
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-011.mspx and
download the appropriate update to your Desktop. With your anti-virus
disabled and all other programs closed, double-click on the saved download
to install it and reboot.

Please post any further questions/problems to this Windows Update-specific
newsgroup, to which I'm cross-posting this reply:
