I can't upgrade my Messenger past 6.1.0207 ???

Every time I try to log in to MSN Messenger it forces me
to upgrade???? I click YES and it downloads, FOREVER,
then says "what do you want to do" "Uninstall or Repair"
I of course click Repair, it installs, supposedly the
current version of MSN Messenger, and then restarts
messenger, and again.. when I try to Log In it forces me
to Upgrade????

I've even tried uninstalling Messenger and re-installing
it from the Messenger website.. and still I don't end up
with a recent version of Messenger??

I can't use messenger untill this is fixed???

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING???

Try doing all/any of this with both MSN Messenger and your anti-virus
application closed.

Thanks for your quick response.. but it didn't help.. I
tried "disabling auto protect", I don't know how to close
my Norton, and then tried doing the upgrade.. "clicking
Yes" and it still didn't help, it brought up the same
screen, Repair or Uninstall, I chose repair and again it
took forever and seemed to install then re launch MSN
Messenger.. and still nothing.. I was unable to log in to
MSN Messenger and I still have Messenger 6.1.0207 ???

I have no Idea what's happening.. you would assume
uninstalling it, as I have don in the past, and re-
installing it from the Messenger website would do it??
but no, I always end up with version 6.1.0207 and then am
unable to log into Messenger???
