Im trying to upgrade from Win ME to Win 2000 but everytime
I try it tells me that my hardwear files need to be
updated. I've tryed to install a Win 2000 service pack but
it wont install scince im running Win ME. Can anyone help
me?

A direct upgrade from ME to 2000 is not supported, since Windows 2000 was
released before ME.

You'll have to back up all your files, wipe your hard disk and install from
scratch.

Greetings --

It's not technically possible to perform an upgrade from WinMe to
Win2K.

Windows Me to Windows 2000 Upgrade Is Not Supported
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;272627.

Before proceeding, you had better take a few minutes to ensure
that there are Win2K device drivers available for your PC's specific
components. There may not be, if the PC was specifically designed for
WinMe. Have you made sure the PC is capable of supporting Win2K?
This information will be found at the PC's manufacturer's web site,
and on Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility List
(http://www.microsoft.com/hcl/default.asp). Also bear in mind that
computers designed for, and sold with, WinMe very often fail to meet
Win2K's much more stringent hardware quality requirements.

If your PC proves Win2K-compatible, simply boot from the Win2K
installation CD. You'll be offered the opportunity to delete, create,
and/or format the system partition as part of the installation
process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot devices in
the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Naturally, you'll want to back-up any important data, first.
