Excuse me or my english language, but I'm Italian.

When I turn off windows XP, the OS reached the term of the shut-down and
restart automatically (but I choosed "Turn off",not "Restart") .
The strange thing is that the problem scompare (and therefore the computer
turn off) if I exit after I installed a whichever program.
To the successive shut down, the problem repeated.
I have WinXp Professional SP2.
Thanks.

Have you installed any new programs recently or otherwise made any changes
to your system? If so, try uninstalling any such programs or even attempt a
system restore from a date prior to this problem happening. I've had similar
problems in the past, and have just done the usual..defrag, scandisk or
restore things to cure this issue. Sometimes you even find that the system
just needs to reboot itself a couple of times, for whatever reason, and the
problem sorts itself out without any intervention from you.

Good luck. :)
